How long does the original application take?
Depending on how dramatic you want the lashes to look, the procedure, when done properly, involves every eyelash being individually extended. This is usually around 200 lashes in total, which should take no longer than two hours. It’s very relaxing and completely painless. When you open your eyes, you’ll find thicker more captivating eyelashes.
Can I wear mascara on the lashes?
Yes – but oils found in most over-the-counter mascaras can have an effect on the longevity of your lashes. I recommend that you use a mascara and eye makeup remover designed for use with extensions.
Are eyelash extensions safe?
Yes – they are completely safe when they are applied by a trained professional. The bonding agent is extremely strong and should not go onto the skin. I am trained in the correct technique needed to apply the lashes safely and without irritation to the eye or skin. The surrounding eye area is well protected, thus eliminating any potential eye and skin irritation. The eyes are closed throughout the whole procedure making the treatment relaxing and enjoyable.
What aftercare will I need for my lashes?
These lashes need minimal care. It is necessary to avoid oils and oily eye makeup remover as they will loosen the adhesive bond of the extension. Rubbing, scratching and pulling will spoil the effect and shorten the life. You will be given an aftercare card so you will be fully aware what to do and not to do with your lashes.
Can I use eye makeup?
Eye makeup can be applied as normal, however, you should avoid using waterproof mascara.
Can I wear contact lenses?
Contact lenses are removed during the application procedure as a general precaution. There is no reason why contact lenses cannot be worn directly after application and throughout the life of your lashes.
How long do the lash extensions last?
Many factors will affect the life of the lash extensions. Keep in mind that your own natural lashes shed naturally. This varies for each person. In general, your own natural lash cycle, your lifestyle and aftercare will affect how long the lashes last. A full set of lashes should last untouched for up to four weeks. However, most people are so delighted with their lashes they want to keep them for longer and therefore I recommend a top-up appointment every 2-3 weeks to keep them looking pristine. For clients who would like to wear them on a long-term basis, I recommend a fresh set every three months.
Why are touch-ups necessary?
Your natural eyelashes continue to grow in a replenishing cycle. Since the extensions are bonded to your own natural lash, you may need to top-up the areas where your own natural lash has fallen out. Touch-ups keep the lashes looking fresh. Touch-ups generally take about 1 hour, depending on how many lashes have fallen out.
Can the lashes be removed easily?
The lashes are applied with a view to them staying on for up to four weeks, therefore the removal process, while easy for a professional, should not be undertaken by a customer. There is a special professional remover that when used correctly will remove the lashes with ease and without damaging the natural lash. Please do not attempt to remove the extensions yourself; otherwise you will pull out your own natural lashes.
